One thing I have really enjoyed by publishing this book are the connections the book has fostered. I have heard from friends along with people I don’t know with their reflections of the book, takeaways, and connections to the area. Recently I received a thoughtful handwritten letter from Ann and Tom Post of Traverse City. Our family has known both of them for many years. Ann and Tom met in Traverse City in the early 1970’s, were married, and started teaching at Traverse City Area Public Schools in the late 1970’s. Ann and I both graduated from high school in Traverse City, in 1971, although from different high schools.
I am enclosing some of Ann and Tom’s letter as a photo so you can see Ann’s beautiful handwriting. Here Ann describes her connection to Newberry and the Two Hearted:

Some of Ann’s family undoubtedly knew Boggy Young. In follow-up correspondence with Ann, a photograph she sent me was possibly taken at a second camp her great-uncle owned south of Newberry, not the one she mentioned on the Two Hearted River. Anyway, here is a 1961 photo of them enjoying a meal at her great-aunt and uncle’s camp. Ann is the young girl on the far right.
